If you would like to continue your journey into astrology, here is my recommended reading list! I've organised this list in terms of level of complexity. Note - some books are out of print, but are usually available as online pdfs or to buy from second-hand book shops.

General astrology books for casual beginners

"Astrology for Dummies, 3rd Edition" Author: Rae Orion. Published by John Wiley & Sons Inc. New Jersey USA, 2020.

"Now that I've Cast it, What do I DO with it? Astrology Simplified" Author: Maxine Taylor. Self-published, 1975. Fourth printing, 2022. This book is self-publishing, so there are occasional printing errors, however, if you want a very accessible, very easy to use "cookbook", I recommend this one. Maxine's technique of creating the basic sentence can really help you begin the process of learning to speak astrological language.

In-depth books for enthusiastic students of astrology

"The Contemporary Astrologer's Handbook: An in-depth guide to interpreting your horoscope" Author: Sue Tompkins. Published by Flare Publications, The London School of Astrology, 2006. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It's a crucial book that really add layers and layers of understanding to your sense of what it all means and how you can use it. This book takes you through it all. If you are enthusiastic about astrology this book needs to be on your shelf.

"Aspects in Astrology: A comprehensive guide to interpretation" Author: Sue Tompkins. Published by Rider an imprint of Ebury Press Books, London, UK, 2001. First published in 1989 by Element Books Limited. Sue Tompkins's first book is an astrology classic, this is essential reading for anyone who wants to understand the components of a natal chart. Another total must have for anyway who wants to get elbows deep into the astrological world.

"The Twelve Houses: Exploring the houses of the horoscope" Author: Howard Sasportas. Published by Flare Publications, The London School of Astrology, 1985.

"How to read Raphael's Ephemeris, A complete Understanding" Author: Jeff Mayo. Published by Foulsham, Berkshire, UK, 2000. An ephemeris is a crucial tool for astrology, and this book provides clear technical descriptions of what the different parts of an ephemeris are, and how to work with them, including calculations. Highly recommend.

"The Changing Sky: Learning Predictive Astrology" Author: Steven Forrest. Published by Seven Paws Publishing, California, USA, 1986. Mine is second edition, 2015.

Intense Books for the obsessed (likely has Mercury pr. conjunct Mercury r. in a trine with Uranus tr. - you know who you are)

"The Combination of Stellar Influences" by Reinhold Ebertin. Published by the American Federation of Astrologers Inc, 1994. This is a translated book, the German title of the book is Kombination der Gestirneinflusse. This teaches all about the midpoints of a natal chart providing a more accurate interpretation of the client but it really focuses on the cosmobiological aspects of astrology, such as physical effects on the human body and sociological manifestations. I'll be honest, I'm a little obsessed with this book right now.

"Business Astrology 101: Weaving the Web between Business and Myth" Author: Georgia Anna Stathis. Published by Starcycles Publishing, California, USA, 2001.

"Profit by Electional Astrology" Author: Doris Chase Doane. Published by the American Federation of Astrologers Inc, USA, 1990. Containing multiple charts interpretations, house assignments and quite a chirpy tone, this is a fascinating book to pick up and examine.

"The Progressed Horoscope" Author: Alan Leo. Originally published by L.N. Fowler & Co., London, UK, 1906. This is a reprint by Forgotten Books.com. Clearly it must be stated that this book was published before the discovery of Pluto in 1937 by Clyde Tombaugh. Alan Leo, considered the father of modern astrology developed the forecasting technique of secondary progressions. This book is for the serious enthusiastic astrologer; it is very useful but be warned the language is of the time and can be challenging to read.

Currently reading:

"Mundane Astrology: An introduction to the astrology of nations and groups" Authors: Michael Baigent, Nicholas Campion and Charles Harvey, first published 1984 by The Aquarian Press. My copy is second edition, published by Thorsons, London, UK, 1995.
