Meaning
The Moon in your chart is your emotional needs for comfort, love and ultimately survival. It is the more reserved side of your nature, sympathetic, caring and affectionate to those you love. It expresses how you like to be in your home, when no one else is there to judge or impact you. In the outer world, such as professional work lives, the moon can indicate where you are cautious, and where you may perceive risk. The Moon is the element of water, and as such, concerned with emotion, the past and absorption, or saturation. The sign and house may give hints to how you seek to look after yourself, but also how you like to care for other people. Moon people are often considered quite emotional in nature, but that does not mean that they are outwardly dramatic, in fact, just because they feel their emotions deeply, they may keep them for private reflection, or as deep rolling current underneath what appears to be still waters.
Considered feminine, the Moon is concerned with the Mother figure, but this could be a maternal energy, that which we need, and that which we reflect onto others, much as the Moon reflects the Sun.
If the Sun is our conscious effort to be the hero, then the Moon is who we are when we finally relax, and want to take our capes off and relax in an entirely unscripted and natural manner. The location of the moon in your natal chart in respect to the Sun is important, as it reveals the phase of the moon you were born under, and that can give clues to your approach on life, whether your conscious (the Sun) and subconscious (the Moon) are in alignment, or if you feel like your outwards persona is in a constant contradiction to how you feel inside.
We can be effected by the phases of the Moon, as the fastest moving astral body, when the daily transiting moon makes an aspect to a sensitive point in our charts, it doesn’t necessarily hang around long enough to make a profound impact, but I have had experiences where the Moon has brought out the inner nature of another person or matter in an experience described by the sign, house and zodiac sign that the moon is in.
